Prior to Jesus' crucifixion, he was abandoned and betrayed by His closest friends, mocked and spit at by the religious leaders, brutally beaten by the Roman Guards, all before being nailed to a tree to die. As He was hanging, he mustered up the strength to utter these powerful words, "Father, forgive them..."
